Do different cannabis strains give different highs?

I LOVE smoking weed and being high ! I used to trip out when I was starting,but that was only because I did not know what to expect from being very very high. Now Im used to it and love it very much!.Especially when I get body highs. The problem is that yesterday and today, i smoked some weed at a friends' house. This weed tasted different,smelled pretty dank, and gave me an Odd and uncomfortable high. What could be happening? is it the weed, or just me tripping out like an idiot? =[ This saddens my heart
