What do i do?are they responsible?

okay so i came home from florida this sunday(8/8/10)and we traveled jet blue.the problem is i just realised that my camera screen is ruin(meaning the screen when u turn it on is bright white with a big,black sploch in the corner with 2 lines that look like cracks coming off of it, it only will turn on and off it wont tae pics,nor will it let me look through the pics on the mem card!!!!)i just noticed it when i went to check the # of pics on the card and that screen appeared,the prob is its 2 days later that i noticed it and the case its pretty think and it was in it the whole time!!!!my dad thinks it happened when it went through the screening process!!!could this be possible?my moms camera is a couple years old and its fine!can the airport pay for a new one?/are they responsible?please help my parents said their not mad or anything and dont think i was irresponsible or anything cus it wasnt my fault,they said they'd buy me a new one buts its my first own dig camera so its not the same really if i get a new one!!!-thanks mucho elizalovesyou<3;)
