On Animal Crossing city folk, I found the empty lamp Do i have to see the genie on the SAME night?

So i found the empty lamp and I don't want to turn my wii on again tonight so is it possible to go to the south and see the genie on another night than tonight... like tomorrow? I would still have the lamp but it would be a different day that i FOUND the lamp.
