Can you request being in DEP for a certain amount of time?

I know once you're in dep there is a wide range of time that you could be leaving for basic, but is there any way at all to be in the inactive reserves and request an amount of time before you leave? Like if I knew I couldnt leave for a month, but I wanted to be in the coast guard asap after that. Because I don't want to put off signing up just to have to wait another 6 months when I could have been signed up 3 months ago, you know what I mean? Or is that just something that can't be controlled
