Longboard or Freeboard?

I want to get a Longboard or Freeboard for Christmas because i snowboard in the winter and want one something like snowboarding for summer. I live in calgary so i dont know how many hills there are here for freeboard and lonboarding doesnt have that snowboard feel as much as the freeboard. is it annoying to take a freeboard up a hill everytime you go down. can you use a freeboard like a longboard with you feet outside the bindings or do they have to be in the bindings?
